David is the CEO of Mariners Inn, a shelter and treatment center for homeless men in Detroit.
As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sampson oversees the daily operations, leadership and vision of the organization and ensures that all programs and personnel are performing at optimal levels of effectiveness. Sampson earned his BSW at the University of Detroit Mercy and his MSW at Wayne State University. He has previously held positions at Highland Park High School, Wolverine Human Services and the Children’s Center of Wayne County.
David has been with Mariners Inn since 2002. He has held several positions there; including Chief Operations Officer, Deputy Executive Director, Clinical Director, Transitional Housing Director, and Dual Diagnosis Therapist. He has been a mentor to the men of Mariners Inn by providing mental and spiritual support during times of need and change. David is a Licensed Master of Social Work and he travels the country as a surveyor for the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) providing professional recommendations to organizations for improved behavioral healthcare. He is a graduate of Leadership Detroit, a Wayne State Alumni Association Member since 1998, a National Association of Social Workers Member since 1997, a University of Detroit Mercy Alumni Association Member since 1996, and a Spirit of Detroit Award recipient in 1999. In 2011, David was awarded the distinguished designation as one of the “Men of Excellence” by the Michigan Chronicle. David is also the President of the Board of Trustees for the Farmington/Farmington Hills Education Foundation.
