About the speaker

Ernie Lorson is a Department of Homeland Security Protective Security Advisor (PSA) assigned to Detroit (Michigan) District.  He serves as a security and resiliency specialist and is the link between State, local, tribal, and territorial organizations and DHS infrastructure mission partners.   PSA’s perform vulnerability and security assessments on a variety of Critical Infrastructure to identify security gaps and potential vulnerabilities as well as coordinate training and support special events and incident management.

Ernie began his PSA position October 2016.  Prior to that he spent more than seven years supporting DHS via an Interagency Agreement with the Department of Defense and the National Guard Bureau.  In that capacity, he served as a subject matter expert for both infrastructure and physical security systems and has continuously contributed to the development, refinement, and execution of Critical Infrastructure assessments throughout the country.  Ultimately serving as an assessment team lead, he directly supported the execution of hundreds of DHS threat and vulnerability assessments, ranging from Infrastructure Survey Tools (IST’s), Site Assistance Visits (SAV’s), Computer Based Assessment Tools (CBAT’s), and Regional Resiliency Assessment Projects (RRAP’s).

Ernie continues to serve as a National Guardsman with over 18 years of total service including 11 years on Active Duty.  He earned a B.S. degree in Physics from Buffalo State University and a M.S. degree in Education from D’Youville College.
