Discussion on Detroit Rotary goals and objectives

                        The purpose of this Club Assembly is to review the recent member survey results and discuss how to implement your suggestions into actionable events for the 2016-17 Rotary year.

Your input and support are important to the success of the goals and programs for our Club.  I hope to see everyone at this meeting.

About the speaker

Detroit Rotary Club President Elect Jim Fuqua first joined Rotary in 1990, in Fairborn, Ohio.  After moving to Michigan, he joined the Royal Oak Rotary Club in 1996, the Rochester Rotary Club in 2001 and the Detroit Rotary Club in 2004. Fuqua began a professional career with the YMCA in Houston in 1978, resettling Indochinese refugees.  From 1980 to 1982 he served as a YMCA Young Professional Abroad in Sorocaba and Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He returned to Houston and worked for the Houston YMCA until 1990, when he was recruited to run the YMCA in Fairborn, Ohio.  In 1995 he was recruited to work for the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit, where he held branch Executive Director positions in Royal Oak, Farmington Hills, and Auburn Hills.  Fuqua worked at the corporate office of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit as Vice President for Financial Development from 2004 until his retirement from the Y in December, 2014.

Fuqua was married to Christine Allen from 1985 to 2005. He currently lives in Royal Oak. He enjoys gardening, reading and maintaining an active lifestyle. He is an avid amateur musician, and plays clarinet in the Ward Presbyterian Church orchestra, which he joined in 2004.
