Rick Caron is a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918). Rick led the 2009 District 6400 Group Study Exchange team to Hungary, earned his club’s "Rotarian of the Year” award and the District’s “Council of Governor’s” award. Rick is a Paul Harris Fellow, a Major Donor, a Benefactor and a member of both the Paul Harris and Bequest Societies.
He and his wife Wendy have two children. Matthew is a lawyer and Julie, a Rotarian, is a doctor.
Rick has been involved in 4 international Rotary projects, all in Tanzania, and all with his daughter Julie. For these projects, Rotary has partnered with SASCO, in Tanzania, and with the Canadian World Education Foundation; of which Rick is a Founding member and the first president.
Rick earned his PhD in 1983 at the University of Waterloo; and then started his career at the University of Windsor. He has served as Dean of Science and as Head of Mathematics and Statistics. He is a past president of the Canadian Operational Research Society, a past Director of the Canadian Mathematical Society, and past chair of the Canadian National Mathematics Training Camp. He has won several prestigious teaching and research awards, and has been listed in the Who’s Who of Canada since 1997.
